Habakkuk 1:5- "Look up the nations and watch--and be utterly amazed. For I am doing something inyour days that you would not believe, even if you were told."
Very often today's youth is labeled as "hopeless." Although, yes, we do make mistakes, no one is unreachable through the power of the Cross. God has planted within each and every one of us a yearning for a better life, but there a so many obstacles that can get in the way.
Being 18, and still labeled as youth, I want to share with my fellow generation that there is a better life and there is a difference that we can make. I have seen first hand the lasting, inherited effects of alcoholism and drug usage. I want to share with my generation that even though their parents may be doing these things and all their friends may be doing these things, there is a way out. And that even a hint of these things can lead to a life of bondage and have lasting effects. I want my generation to know that there is hope. I believe so many kids today give up on being everything that God intended them to be because they don't understand why they are going through and what they are going through. They don't see how they can get out of a horrible circumstance or situation. But I have a strong calling on my life to tell them that our God is bigger than any circumstance, addiction, situation, or stronghold.
That is exactly what "Breaking the Cycle" is about. No matter what situation they are in or have come from they can break the cycle of wordliness, addictions, and a life of sin and experience the healing power of Jesus Christ. And if only we could make commitments to completely live a life of Holiness (holy does not mean perfect it means SET APART). If this generation could say "from this day forward I will not take a sip of alcohol, use any illegal drugs, and make my self sexually pure and I will commit my body as a living sacrifice to the God who created me, died for me, and rose again for me." This world would change for the better. Yes, it is a huge commitment, but by far the best commitment! My 6 song EP revolves around this message. There is a Holy God who is waiting to do wonders in you, you have a purpose, and you have hope. Grasp it. Take Hold of it! God is anxious and waiting to do something amazing in our generation!
