July 9
Well, I'm back from my Carolina and Florida shows. What a trip! I hung out with some family and friends, relaxed by some great pools, set foot in the ocean, played night golf, got drunk a couple of times; oh yeah, and the playing music thing was good too. Sometimes when you're driving for at least five hours a day and only playing for one, you forget what you're actual purpose is. My sweet purple mini-van held up nicely though. She's a true road warrior and I get the feeling that she's gonna be around for a while longer (I'm knocking on wood right now). This part of the tour just felt like a nice vacation. I feel re-energized, and I can't wait to get back out there. I want to say thanks to everyone that came out along the way and listened. I met some really nice people, and everyone at the private shows made us feel welcome and comfortable.
However, it was good to get home for a couple of reasons. One was obviously to see everybody, but my new cd also arrived shortly after. I sat in the driveway just waiting for the UPS guy, and when I finally went inside he showed up. It felt like Christmas. I am very pleased with the way it looks and sounds. What a relief. Well, time to start another one! Just kidding, I'm a little burnt out on the whole process right now. We had a release party on Saturday night in Bloomington to celebrate, which was a blast. Wednesday will be my Chicago release at MIX. I get to open for The August again, which is always a thrill. However, Jacky from The August sang on a couple tracks on this new record, so I think we are both looking forward to Wednesday nights' show a little bit more. So come on out if you're in the area!
The new cd will be available shortly on itunes and cdbaby, as well as on my website (it's finally up- still a lot of work to do, but it's up). I'll also be putting some of the new tunes up on my myspace. Please be patient with me I am not good with computers, but I have some other people helping me out now. I'll keep you posted on everything as soon as I get a clue. Talk to you soon.
Dan
