BIOGRAPHY
"Dance music has almost always been totally about the music and the record. Superstars like Madonna and Donna Summer have been few and far between. Mike Furey and Tom Napack of Dangerous Muse could easily be another exception to the rule. Dangerous Muse have the songs, but they also have the style, looks and unswerving dedication and most of all, the smarts to break through in a big, big way and stay there for a long, long time. I'm betting they can and will do it."
-Seymour Stein, Sire Records
The Electro-Clash scene in New York City was undoubtedly one of the most creatively glamorous, deliciously lascivious and culturally influential pop music movements in recent years, but like most dance music, while ground breaking in its production, it may have lacked a certain emphasis on the art of songwriting.
Vocalist Mike Furey, a regular at the hottest downtown dance parties, wanted to use that dark, lusty, trashy dance sound hed absorbed there to write the more personal songs that were gestating in his sub-conscious. Programmer/keyboardist Tom Napack, new to the scene, was looking for a vocalist and songwriting partner. They got together and immediately knew they had something. Combining the gloomy sexiness of underground New York with a keen sense of song craft and pop drama, Dangerous Muses sound is as comfortable on the dance floor as it is the morning after.
New York performances at MisShapes, Scenic, Happy Valley and Crash Mansion began to spread the success of their first single The Rejection and Dangerous Muse was off and running. Soon they had Mr. Steins attention and found themselves working on their first commercial release with Ted Ottaviano (Book of Love).
In November 2005, Dangerous Muse released their first EP with Cordless Recordings, the newest addition to the Warner Music Group of labels. The day the EP was available, "The Rejection" soared to number 2 on iTunes top-selling dance charts and stayed at the top of the charts for weeks.
Dangerous Muse are currently working on writing and producing their next "cluster," (Digital EP), available May 2006. They'll also be releasing a CD EP (available in stores this July), featuring an Eric Kupper remix of "The Rejection" and some other special content.

Last night, January 16th, Mike and Tom attended the opening of Doug
Aitken's "Sleepwalkers" exhibit at the Museum of Modern Art, curated
by Klaus Biesenbach. This exhibit is monumental for the MoMA, because
it is the first exhibit to bring art to the exterior walls of the
museum. Mattheu Barney and Douglas Gordon, among other notable artists
were present at the event. During the reception, Seu Jorge(best known for
his scenes in Life Aquatic) played some tunes.
"The Rejection" was recently listed on LA Weekly Digital Jukebox. The site picks what they say are "the sounds of tomorrow...today." Click here to view the list and listen to "The Rejection." "Give Me Danger" and "In This Town" are also available to listen to, so check it out.
Give Me Danger Remixes, featuring Peter Rauhofer, will be available at iTunes in the first weeks of the New Year. In the meantime, we have posted one of our favorites on here. "Give Me Danger (Give Me Lazer Mix)" is produced by Chaz Windus of Blazing Lazer. You may remember the last mix he did for us, "The Rejection (Reject Disco Mix)." Enjoy.
Be sure to check out the store for sizes that may have been sold out last week. We just put in a massive order today for more shirts, including X-Small in the Deep V. Some of the shirts are still on back-order, but we'll be sure to let you know all the info as it becomes available. Happy shopping and Happy Holidays!
Last night we performed at a club called Rebel for a party called Strut. We want to thank everyone for coming out. It was such a fucking blast. We also would like to give out shout out to the wild girl who stormed the stage and tried to stick her tongue down Mike Furey's throat. Luckily, Stevil was there to lay down the law (the infamous glitter-sweater-sporter-turned-bouncer extraordinaire). Check out the clip above to watch him thwart her second attempt to rock out on stage. The drinks were strong that night and love was in the air.

As you may or may not know, we recently combined our first 3-song digital EP release with three new songs to make a standard length 6-song EP entitled, "Give Me Danger EP" (If you have already purchased the original EP, you can still get the new songs individually). We did this because iTunes no longer tracks releases of less than three songs in its album charts. Unfortunately, we lost all of your amazing reviews because didn't allow any of them to be carried over. We would really appreciate it if you took a few minutes to repost what you said about The Rejection EP on the Give Me Danger EP review page on iTunes by clicking here: Post Review. You don't have to purchase songs to post about them.
"The Rejection" video is now available at iTunes. Click HERE to buy!
Also, as you may or may not know, iTunes recently took down both of our three-song digital EP releases of "The Rejection" and "Give Me Danger" and combined them into one EP of six tracks titled "Give Me Danger". As a result, we also lost all fan postings of your amazing reviews. If you left a review and it has been deleted, PLEASE repost it. You do not have to purchase any DM songs to post your review. Click here to leave us a comment HERE! THANK YOU!
