Forming in 2002, Counterfeit Pennies consisted of three members (Rob Clancy - Bass/Vocals, Mike Hoffner - Guitar, and Sam Christie-Sgro - Drums), before acquiring Mike Sheils (Guitar/Vocals) in 2003. After a few short years, two studio-recorded EP's, tons of shows, and lots of hard work, the Counterfit Pennies began to make the progress that was necessary in order to establish their presence locally. They also participated in 2007's the Break Contest, the official contest to play the Bamboozle Festival. After two rounds at the Trocadero in Philadelphia, Counterfeit Pennies won a Critics Pick award, and consequently earned a spot at the second day of Bamboozle 2007. Reluctantly, the band split up in the summer of 2007 in order for the members to focus on attending college. With all of this behind them, Counterfeit Pennies decided to make a full-fledged comeback, writing and playing the honest music that they love.
