Computer Freaks are an Australian eclectic-rock band from Melbourne, formed in 1999 and currently practising/recording at their local church/Kevin's joint. They have released one full-length double-album entitled 'The Chronicles of Magnet Man and the Little Apple in the Cloud's Eye/In Honour of the Guest's Acardium in the Stadium' and have toured provincially - including one memorable performance at St. Marks Anglican Church, to a crowd completely unbeknownst of the band's existence. Both audience members were very impressed. The band's sound is extremely diverse, utilizing elements of rock, punk, ska, reggae, funk, death metal, jazz, country, blues, folk, classical, techno, soul, gangsta rap, hip-hop, polka and vaudeville, amongst countless other music genres. Their lyrics generally satirize issues such as politics, society, various subcultures, racism, Siezo, the music industry and religion, often exhibiting their propensity for juxtaposing references from history and literature with Australian and New Zealand-ish pop culture.

The band's first single, 'Take Me To Your Leader' proved to be a hit, and enjoyed airplay among local radio stations, and was even voted #3 in the Triple J Hottest 100 poll in 2000, placed right after a U2 song (At the Triple J website, #3 is actually listed as a Powderfinger song. They're liars). After David claimed that U2's music is stupid and prententious, Bono snapped back, saying that Computer Freak's music "doesn't even benefit the starving children". Freeman and Bono would trade barbs through the press for many years later. Their feud with U2 still continues to this day.....U2 sucks.

Computer Freaks disbanded shortly after the band formed in 1999, due to a feud between Dave and Kevin, after Kevin suggested that Computer Freaks should sellout and accept the flooding offers of record deals from the majors, while Dave wanted to stay indie, and have all their music self-released.

Deciding it was the appropriate moment to move on, Kevin went on to form various cock-rock manifestations such as Silent Riot, Delacruz, Swivel Spider, Mr Grasshopper and the Butterflies, and a solo project - Kevin Hawkins Trio. Meanwhile, Dave was forced to join a hopeless generic Triple M-Rock cover band, with fellow self-proclaimed musos Josh and Eric, known as The Melburnians. None of the seven members could play an instrument.

Things recovered for the duo in 2006, after Dave proposed the idea of reforming the band during a telephone conversation with Kevin - to which Kevin said "Dude! I was just joking about that whole selling-out thing!" to which Dave replied with "Whatever, man."

The recently reformed band (with its original line-up) has announced the release of their sophomore album, tentatively titled Stubbing Toes, scheduled to be released sometime around March 2007 on Team Assface Records (Contrary to small belief, the band is NOT signed to Leader of the Pack, I don't know what Kevin was thinking).
