"Compass," is looking to have a banner year in 2011 with an expanded schedule of live concert performances, jazz clinics for young musicians, along with returning to the studio for a new recording.
The entire 2011 performance schedule is to be confirmed by the very near future. The goal is to schedule 12 to 15 concerts this year, most taking place during the summer months. Two members of the quartet still have "day gigs," both continue to teach and expect to do so for a few more years.
On the recording front, the band is looking to produce and market a limited edition, double CD set sometime this year; one CD, a re-issue of the group's 1971 album, "Compass Rises," the second of "Compass" Today-40 years later. Bassist, Tom Ives noted, "we're playing better than ever and we're excited to be bringing our unique sound back through original compositions written and arranged by members of the band."
