Members: Andy and Robin (Former members Maxie and Ivan)
C.O.I.L was formed in 1995 in Brooklyn, Manhattan, by the three original members, Andy Setiawan (drums,bac.voc, and programming), Maxie Lawalatta (vocals and guitar) and Ivan Octaviadi (bass,bac.voc,sampling and programming). At the time, the band was heavily ihfluenced by industrial, death metal, and electronica. To accomodate their various musical interests, they decided to make C.O.I.L a non-mainstream musical entity that should not be bound by any genre.
Not long after acquiring proper recording instruments, the demo 'Death 99' was recorded sporting three songs "My Proper Soul", "Death 99" dan "Winter's Hunter". Each song carries different style and message. While the hardcore-Metal-induced "My Proper Soul" speaks of social injustice, the more death-metalish song "Death 99" speaks of sensual longing and "Winter's Hunter" serves as the haunting slow song about the mysteries of life.
