CLOAK ONE NINE

Rock / Screamo / Alternative

By mixing methodical beats, mood swinging guitar riffs, and breakdowns that jump out like a mugger from a dark alley, one can somehow blend the lines that defy musical labels, and have a sound that can't be ignored. As Leo and Chris started putting together the first songs of what would become Cloak One Nine's first demo, they knew the sound was different, but couldn't quite put a finger on their genre. It had enough angst to be punk, enough anger to be hardcore, and enough landslide of emotion to be emo.

The name Cloak One Nine was chosen, but its origins are just as mysterious as the music. Chris claims the 'Cloak' and the numbers 'One' and 'Nine' represent milestones in Leo's life. Like a fine wine, as time went on, Leo became an exceptional front man while handling guitar duties as well, but a bassist was needed to round out the sound.

In 2003, Darren jumped in on bass, and was eager to throw his influence into the mix. A new door was opened as the band was now a three piece, which prompted the trio to start playing shows around New Jersey. Angel Vivaldi, one of the best lead guitarists to be seen, joined Cloak One Nine not too long after.

Angel Vivaldi may also be known as the lead guitarist|composer|arranger for the late band Mercury's Ashes; who built themselves a vast number of loyal fans also in the Jersey area. In addition to winning countless Guitar Competitions in Central Jersey, He also performed for the annual Jemfest convention in Orlando, Florida this summer. Jemfest is an organization aimed at raising money for Steve Vai's Make a Noise Foundation, which was a great success.

Cloak One Nine, with an ever-changing setlist and onstage comedy stints by the band, one never leaves a Cloak One Nine show knowing exactly what they just heard.
