Finally, a band has bucked the latest trend of image before music. Its unmediated approach to song writing, and ballsy neglect for what the NME depicts as 'cool', has fueled the rise of one of the UK's hottest new acts. Enter CITY, a 4 piece carnival of lush pop sensibilities and no frills rock and roll.
Formed in the summer 2003, founding members Steph McCrorie, Phillip Ritchie and Steve Hill set out to create something that is not unique, exclusive or incomparable - but something that is simply exciting. Growing up listening to bands such as U2, Jimmy Eat World and The Cure has provided the band with the musical aspirations and maturity to petty the dumping ground that is todays charts and focus on the single most important commodity - great songs. The band has a policy of creating music with mileage rather than immitating a sound that has the longevity of a weekly issue of Kerrang!

Despite an average age of just 19 the boys are no strangers to high profile gigs. The band has recently been invited to play with Californian female pop sensations THE LIKE and have also enjoyed many high profile touring support slots including Texans Reubens Accomplice and British rockers Brigade. CITY was also called upon at last minute to support American pop-punks MOTION CITY SOUNDTRACK at a sold out The Venue in Edinburgh.

The bands local success has seen their friendships turn into co-worker status. Often, assembly lines are formed on the living room floor burning demos, writing press releases and cutting out cd inserts. The drive this band possesses to see their careers blossom is unquestionable. In the past 2 years over 2500 cds have been sold at gigs and the boys are keen to note that everything the band has achieved they did it themselves with no label or managerial backing. Thats not to say there hasnt been sufficient interest from the industry. Both independent and major labels have noted the progress of one of Scotlands most promising and hard-working bands.

With time on its side and their latest demo being recieved with great praise - this band show nothing but promise. For anybody who has ever rocked, clapped, danced or tapped - here is CITY.
