Bio:
My name is Josh and this is my music. I've been writing and recording since about 2004, and I perform/produce all the tracks. I'm a self-taught guitarist, pianist, bassist, drummer, banjoist, mandolinist, and singer. I record on my laptop, and I try to write something everyday that I think would be worthy of sharing with other people and making them react in one way or another.

Since I started writing, my influences have shifted from artists such as singer/songwriters Elliott Smith, Ben Gibbard, and Sufjan Stevens, to more experimental/pop artists such as David Byrne, Paul Simon/Paul McCartney. I try to write concise songs that catch your attention and let it go before you're ready. I'm attempting to balance my love of short pop tunes with the undeniable beauty and chaos of experimental music.

In July 2010 I embarked on a month-long roadtrip with my best friend Jordan through the South, and we brought our instruments with us. We played shows in Virginia, Tennessee, Louisiana, and Texas, mainly just walking into different bars and asking if any bands needed an opening act. As a two piece band, Jordan on drums and myself on guitar/vocals, we performed as Cities & States and it was a life-altering experience entertaining total strangers. I look forward to playing more shows in the future in different cities around the States, and perhaps even internationally.
