CIRCUS PONORKA

Circus Ponorka is Honza Ponocny. With one voice, one acoustic guitar, two samplers, and a whole lotta love for what he's doing, he creates a sound that might best be described as do-it-yourself nu-wave folk rock. If you're into Jack Johnson, G-Love, Ben Harper, then Circus Ponorka should be on your playlist.

Honza Ponocny is one of the top musicians in his country. He has appeared on more than 4O albums and has also produced a few multi-platinum discs for Universal Czech Republic. He is a former member of the Czech „supergroup“ Alias, which included guitarist Ivan Kral of the Patti Smith Group, has opened for acts like the Red Hot Chili Peppers, and currently performs with top Slovak singer/songwriter Meky Zbirka. His debut disc, recorded in Prague and New York, and mixed in Nashville by Steve Walsh, goes on sale in Czech Republic in fall 2007. The first single from this effort, "Dance", topped the monthly playlist on the most popular radio station in the country (Radiozurnal), beating out international artists like Coldplay, Madonna,U 2, Maroon 5.

Circus Ponorka's performs sets entirely in English, the lyrics often penned by John Riley, member of the U.S.-indie band Seedy Gonzales.
