BIO
Cigalpa, featuring drummer Juanito Moro, guitarists Jose Chowy Romero and Jorge Fino Otamendi and bassist Zorraquin was formed by vocalist and songwritter Santi Torres, in Buenos Aires in 2002. Influenced by all kind of worldwide rock & pop music, they presented themselves with their own songs and classics from national rock, searching for new sounds with a mix of genres, but keeping rock as their base.
Their lyrics have a strong message with social and ecological content. These characteristics gave them a personal profile which called the attention of experts in the field. This adventure took them into incredible experiences performing in massive festivals as The Quilmes Rock and Aguante Buenos Aires in 2003, receiving in the same year their first award.
By the beginning of 2004 they continued with their presentations and recorded their first CD working with local musical gurus like Christian Basso, Cay Gutierrez, Santiago Zambonini, Oscar Moro and Eduardo Bergallo. Running 2005, CIGALPA was sounding frequently on the most important radios of Argentina without any outsider support, their theme "Sinverguenza" is included as opening song an important radio program and continue with live performances while remastering a new version of "Tortugas y Conejos" for their first video.
The independently-released album "El fabuloso mundo de Nadie" produced by Christian Basso (La Portuaria, Clap, Sexteto Irreal) and Cay Gutierrez (Fabiana Cantilo,Las Pelotas, Hilda Lizarazu) was sold out at the band concerts. They are now getting ready with new songs for their next album to be released in 2006, "El fabuloso mundo de todos" - A Sides.
