Chux Beta was born over 10 years ago in the Home of the Whopper, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Singer/Guitarist Ryan Dunn along with highschool friends, guitarist JT Bendel and drummer Richard Murray and a Bass Player who didnt have a name, started playing music together as 15 year olds. The inspiration, unfortunately came from Ryans older brother Jims band, who Sounded like the Platters, Janes Addiction and George Clinton if his backing band was Bell Biv Devoe. The bands sound started off rough but as they grew together, they started to develop a unique sound as well as an identity. Around 2001, Chux Beta started to pick up steam, Ryan and JT became very prolific songwriters, Rich started to morph into a modern day Meg White and the Nameless Bass player, started to learn how to play Stairway to Heaven on the Harmonica. The bands live shows began to become surreal, energy and life that had never existed within this group started to overflow. The band was signed to a local Indie label and put out the Record Syndication, one of the best albums youll never hear. Chux Beta continued to write and record new music through late 2004, when that guy who played bass got married and started producing local Hip Hop artists mix tapes. The Band continued working and writing as a 3 piece but the original sound was not there. Ryan, Rich and JT turned to the guy whos band tricked them into believing Pittsburgh had a viable music scene in the first place, Bass Guitarist Jim Dunn. The new lineup gelled almost instantaneously. In the summer of 2005, the band went to Akron, Ohio, to record an EP with Axl Rose. Axl was busy, so he sent his stunt double. The music made in those sessions became The Never Was an EP that features 5 very angry songs and 1 very sad song that will no doubt be played at a prom one day. Chux Beta released their 6th record in April of 2009. "Now We Rise And We Are Everywhere" features 9 songs and is the bands favorite release to date. The Beta is already writing another album and may start recording as early as the end of 2009. The band is very much influenced by Pink Floyd, Talking Heads, John Frusciante, Nirvana and sometimes Master P. Chux Beta in all honesty is a group of guys, who love playing music for musics sake, embrace playing music for people and love playing music with each other. You wont see a more passionate, intense show anywhere. After 10 years of playing, writing, bleeding, sweating and tearing, Chux Beta is ready for the next step. an opening slot for Pittsburgh's coolest, funk/Rock quintuplet, the Old E All Stars...dreams do come true. Chux Beta will play for free.
