The Long Awkward Pause!

blog post
....Is Finally OVER!!!

Fortunatly, school has ended and I am have a TON more time on my hands! Lot's of stuff has happened between now and the last time we both spoke! So much so that I think I would rather break it all up into smaller separate blogs instead of one epicly long-winded and probably boring story!

First and foremost, I FINALLY got a chance to get out and about town to a few open mics. On Tuesday evening, I stopped by Staccatto's Open Mic in Adams Morgan and was glad to get back on the stage and behind the mic! It was good to see a few buddies of mine up there as well. I swear that place is like an elcectic Cheers, b/c everybody really does seem to know your name, and I sure was glad that I came (I get a feeling other people were glad I came too ;^D). It's always a good, good time when I get to see Denny, Mark and Andrew play a few tunes! Oh and my friends "The Fed" rocked it out too!
Wednesday and Thursday nights were a bust b/c I had my information mixed up! Apparently The Iota's Open Mic starts at 8 and sign-up is at 7pm, so I missed that one altogether! It was a futile attempt to wait until the end to see if any openings popped up!. As for Thursday at "The Outta the Way Cafe" in Derwood, I didn't realize that it was full band night Thursday and the acoustic night was the night before on Wednesday...oops!
So now that I found out that I am officially terrible at reading directions, I made sure that I had my Facts straight for Friday nights open-mic at Caribou Coffee in Olney, MD hosted by Don and Michelle of S.A.W.! This open-mic night was a night littered with talented musicians (and bored high schoolers too, which was cool b/c it gave us more than just fellow musicians in the audience!). It's always a pleasure to hear the duo of "Transcending 3rds" and my friend "Uncle John" blow away the crowd. They're some hard acts to follow, but I feel it was a good night for me!
As for upcoming gigs, I was honored enough to be asked to play for a S.A.W. (Songwritters of Washington) showcase at Caribou Coffee in Olney, MD on Friday June 30th at 7:30pm. I hope that you can mark your calenders for that date and I"ll see you up there! Until then, I'll just be hitting up as many open-nights as possible. I'll be up in Leesburg this coming Monday night, back at Staccatto's on Tuesday and Iota's (at 7pm for sign-up) on Wednesday, I hope to see you out there!

(see now that is just one single blog! Could you imagine if I had tried to cram a few more of my stories on this one blog, and aren't you glad I didn't? I know that I am...cause I sure don't care to type any more than I need to ;^D)
