Tour Journal Entry #2 - 3:21pm - 06/28/06
Nikki and I are at her home in Vermont. Due to extreme weather conditions. Creation Festival in Pennsylvania was cancelled so we have an extra week here in this land of hills and cows. One of the familys we planned on camping with was on the way and so we decided to stop in Philadelphia and meet up for dinner. Carlene and her children Hannah and Jacob were so much fun! They showed us around town and I had my first Philly Cheese Steak. It was most delicious. They offered to put us up for the night so we stayed there till late afternoon. Driving all night, Nikki accidently drove us 7 hours out of the way on our way to her house in VT. It's alright though because I accidently reversed into a ditch in attempt to do a "Vermont Turn-Around" that Nikki had briefed me on upon entering the state. 1 hour and 68 apathetic cars later, our tow truck arrived. God bless AAA. Unfortunately, the tow truck didn't arrive until after someone had called the cops on us and told them that I had hydroplaned into the ditch. After I gave him my license and registration and told him we were up here to visit Nikki's family, he let me on my way. At least I can still say I've never been pulled over by the cops. Open mics here we come.

Tour Journal Entry #1 - 12:53am - 06/26/06
Wow. Tour. Wow life. Everything still seems surreal. As if I haven't left home. Or maybe I'm always in a state of movement. Keepting time with God, making friends in new locations and experiencing a season of life together. It feels comfortable to me. Trying to sell myself isn't very fun. Convincing someone that I'm worth their five bucks is degrading. However, the idea of connecting with someone, making them smile, shaking their hand and brightening their day, that's a concept I can get behind. I see myself traveling a lot more in the future. Still fairly unsure how much longer I can balance a full-time job with life on the road. I know I can't afford to do this all the time but I believe I'll be booking a lot more shows when I get home. I must admit I'm not really too worried about it. God has taken care of everything, including me, so for and He's not changing anytime soon.
One of the funniest moments of the tour so far would have to be while we were still in Orlando. Five hours late to leave we were still hungry so we set out to find nourishment before we hit the road. First stop, Taco Bell. It's cheap, quick and reminiscent of real food. To our dismay however, 4am means closing time. Not to be detoured, we pull up and I place my non-order. "Yeah, can I get nine #7's, a couple #3's with half sauce, and how about some quesadillas, whichever flavor you like better." As I'm finishing my order, the speaker squels out some heavy feedback and fearing I've broken our new found friend, I speed off towards the street. In the distance I see the shadowy figure and hear a voice coming through the speakers saying, "Though we are thankful you've chosen Taco Bell, we are not currently open." I waved goodbye and found solice in old faithful, Steak 'n Shake.
