CHASING DAYBREAK

Rock / Alternative

With a focus on writing and performing songs that connect with their audience, Chasing Daybreak readies their debut CD for the Fall of 2008. The 5-member band from Poughkeepsie, NY, with a vocalist via Kenai, Alaska, hopes to inspire others as they have been, by their musical influences. Affected by the writing and work of John Lennon to the sounds of My Chemical Romance and Taking Back Sunday, Chasing Daybreak prepares to perform their album throughout the northeast into 2009.

Their music expresses the personal affect of war in “1942” to the importance of companionship in “Cincinnati”. Drummer Stephen Dudzinski was moved by the sacrifice and courage of the military to write “1942” from the perspective of an American soldier. The album’s title track “Into Our Own” shows the band’s evolution both musically and lyrically, driven by lead guitarist Dan Lagana and Steven Campanella’s vocals. With the exception of Johnny Thunder’s “You Can’t Put Your Arms Around A Memory”, Into Our Own was written solely by the band with Campanella & Dudzinski anchoring the words and music. Whether it’s the edge of “Resuscitated” or the mass appeal of the 2-year-old “Between Long Roads (Summer Song)”, their music reflects the mood and growth of a young band finding themselves and becoming artists.

The versatility of Denis Fabbricante’s, guitar work, keyboards and vocals, are essential in defining the band’s sound, as are the rhythms and vocals of bassist Don Grudee. Chasing Daybreak has produced an honest and genuine work of music that reflects each member’s personality and collective vision. Their patience in having their debut album develop over 2 years shows their commitment to each other and the music they love.

The home base of Poughkeepsie, NY gave them an opportunity to build an audience from pubs like Keltic House to headlining The Chance Theater, home to countless national acts. Performing everywhere from Hartford, Ct. to Harrisburg, Pa, through NJ right down to regular shows in New York City, Chasing Daybreak prepares to live on the road. “If we register with just a handful of people at each show…and really mean something to them, we’ve accomplished part of our goal” Dudzinski says. “Music is so healthy right now, most anyone with some heart can express themselves artistically. and with some determination, can reach the masses” Campanella adds.

The band believes it’s important to define your sound but as important to have balance in your repertoire. Whether arranging their music as, in your face rock songs or showing intensity by stripping a song down, it’s all about what you’re saying lyrically and musically. “Sometimes those notes speak as loud as the words,” Dan Lagana says. “Playing acoustically, is as gratifying and intense as cranking my volume and getting off on the power of my guitar and amps. It’s what you feel and only when you really feel what you’re playing, will your audience believe you” he adds.
