Um... angelea I dont know who you are and Im not really sure what you are trying to say. I think you are trying to say that you dont go around telling people they cant listen to bands because the bands are straight edge and the listeners are not. Well if thats the case then I usually dont either. But seeing how some previous comments pretty much directly trashed straight edge on a site for a band that sings about being and actually are straight edge I figured I had every right to put in my two cents. And yes I can say that if you arnt straight edge you cant appreciate the music because you are not truly appreciating the music. To appreciate the music is to feel the emotion the song conveys and 98% of Casey Jones is STRAIGHT EDGE. You cant drink and hear lyrics like "Youve fucked 100 girls and have no plans to stop Youve crushed 1000 pills and always drink until you drop Well holy fucking shit youre such a fucking man Ladies and Gentlemen let him take a stand You think youre so far ahead Youre just another one walking dead" and think to yourself "uh... I can really appreciate what hes saying" Thats ridiculous. I relate cause I am edge and I feel that exact way. I have been ridiculed for being straight edge like its a bad thing. This message is for kids like kurty128 and Marty James. Huh guys... hate to tell you this... Casey Jones IS Straight Edge. If you are not... you dont like Casey Jones. Thats what they sing about and thats who the are and if you dont appreciate it then youre not a fan. You cant like a band cause they are "catchy" or theyre "punk rock" its ridiculous. If you wanna know what straight edge is Ill fucking tell you. Its not a cult, its not a religion, its not a following, its not a movement, and its not a gang, its a fucking lifestyle that I and many others CHOOSE to live. If you think its about not doing drugs you are wrong. If you think its just a bunch of kids running around with Xs on their hands to gain some kinda self indulged "hardcore credit" youre wrong. And for the record kurty128 its not a bunch of 15 to 20 year olds I am currently 22 years old and I have been Straight Edge for 9 years and if youre to fucking high or shitfaced to do the math that puts me at 13 when I started. Now thats a good 4 year difference in your little time frame. Moving on... Straight Edge is and always has been about strength and perseverance. We dont do drugs because we have the strength to say "NO" and its more than drugs... its alcohol, peer pressure, or anything else that can influence your decision making skills. You all make your cute little jokes about "you drink caffine thats a drug" or "you gotta tattoo thats poisoning your body" STFU... thats not what its about. Its not about being keeping your body clean. Its about HAVING THE STRENGTH to keep your body clean. Addiction makes you weak, makes you stupid, makes you dependent on outside influence. I dont need that shit. I can say I dont need that shit I can function as a memeber of society without that shit I can party and have a good time and entertain myself without the use of drugs or alcohol.
