- Digital Cafe Tour's Live 2.0 filmed Captain Coconut live at Kenny's Castaways on Sunday, July 20th and we brought the funk for the cameras.
- CMJ 2008! Alongside our friends The Northern, Earth Eater, Nyle, and the Alright Ma's, we brought the funk to a showcase sponsored by the Clive Davis Department of Recorded Music at NYU on Friday, October 24th during CMJ.
- Captain Coconut was Bambu's Band of the Month (of June)! At the Bowery Poetry Club on Saturday, June 28th, Captain Coconut went into battle and emerged victorious, as judged by a round of applause.
- We won the Going.com NYC Band Showcase at the Canal Room! After an online vote, Captain Coconut won over the judges and was awarded $1000 and a meeting with Cordless Recordings.
- Captain Coconut in New Orleans - Jazzfest '07! On Saturday, April 28th the whole band convened in the Crescent City to play a night at Rotolo's Restaurant during the first weekend of JazzFest '07. We opened up for our buddy Marc Stone with 2 hours of sizzling hot funk. We had a great time in New Orleans, saw some fantastic music and made lots of new friends. Long live NOLA!

After five years on the New York City scene, Captain Coconut has made a name for itself by simply playing good music. The seven-piece band has performed at some of New York's legendary venues, including the late CBGB & Knitting Factory, The Bitter End, and two gigs at Gracie Mansion for Mayor Michael Bloomberg. The band has won several competitions, including Going.com's NYC Band Showcase, NYU's Battle of The Bands 2008, Bambu Rolling Paper's Band of the Month (June '08), and was awarded Honorable Mention at the 2007 Musicians & Emerging Artists NY Festival. They've played numerous colleges, including Wesleyan, Vassar, and New York University, and have performed twice in New Orleans during JazzFest '06 & '07, opening for Bill Summers and Marc Stone.
