In many professions, the new kids on the block are forced to sit back and let the veterans take charge. Fortunately for the members of Cannary Rose, music is not one of these trades. Consisting of Derek Johnson (vocals/guitar), Avery Stassen (guitar), Craig Chesler (bass), and Derrick Kuhlman (drums), these four youngsters have been able to unleash their own energetic sound on both the Twin Cities and across the nation.
Hailing from glamorous Elk River, Minnesota (a suburb of Minneapolis), the four guys are quickly rising towards the top of the thriving Twin Cities music scene. Being good friends for many years, the quartet began playing together in 2003 and have not looked back since. After playing shows nonstop for most of that time and self-releasing an EP, 2004s "Turn on the Lights", their debut full-length album "Figures, Statistics or Make Believe". They are planning to release a new EP which is being shot at being released in mid-january.
Drawing from a variety of influences, Cannary Roses sound will please fans of emo, indie, powerpop, and progressive music alike. Whether it is the addicting pop of The Art of Lust or the complex bookending instrumental tracks, the eleven songs on "Figures, Statistics or Make Believe" contain something enjoyable for everyone.
