I've finally mastered my banner, but the code isn't working on purevolume. Please go to my myspace page if you'd like to help promote me via my banner.

Hey, welcome to one of the homes of my music. I can also be found at myspace (www.myspace.com/burt1316), audiostreet (www.audiostreet.net/burt), and stage.fm (stage.fm/burt1316); feel free to check them out for a different selection. I have (or had) other music pages, but I don't update them.

Yes, the third Burt album will be released soon.

One of the songs I'm planning to put on the album is the first song I wrote. I composed the melody in mid-2002 at a Best Buy store in Louisville, KY before I had even purchased the keyboard. I had written the lyrics to it perhaps a couple of weeks prior to that day. I have since misplaced those lyrics, done a re-write, been dissatisfied with the re-write, and misplaced it as well. The song was originally written when my brother Chris, my friend Allan, and I were planning on forming a band. Even after we got our instruments we still lacked a drummer, and eventually we all fell away from the idea. I still played little notes here and there on my keyboard and even wrote lyrics here and there, but it wasn't until summer of 2005 that I finally recorded a song. After that song I wrote "Swirl" and then proceeded to write the rest of the songs on that album. And suddenly my thirst for music was re-invigorated. I even used Chris' bass guitar and recorded the bass track for this one song. The music has been ready for this song for quite some time now, but as I mentioned before, I had been dissatisfied with my re-write of the lyrics.

After Swirl, I was still very enthusiastic about writing music and I wrote "Synth Explosion" which I featured in my most recent release, I Hate Pop Music. Inspiration failed me after that for quite a while. In December 2005 I got a myspace account. My first thought was that I had heard a lot of people use myspace to promote their music. I soon realized that I should have signed up for an artist account and that's how this page came to be. That very same night that I got the myspace account I was looking at a page that belonged to my friend Emma Snider. A blog entry caught my eye by the title of "The Day the Scrunchies Died." I connected very deeply with the messages conveyed in this entry and it more accurately captured what I had tried to express in the song "SpontanIety (How?)." I wrote lyrics to a song and even got Emma to agree to sing duet with me. Inspiration was still slow after that, but finally forthcoming. I began writing lyrics and music again, and in early June, I Hate Pop Music was released.
Throughout the process of I Hate Pop Music, my first song lay forgotten as a file on my computer. I nearly neglected it again in the creation of this album, but I noticed it and have been working hard on the third re-write. Almost fitting that the third re-write would come out with my third album. The album title and tracklist are coming very soon!

And hey, the inspirational juices are still flowing strong right now, so maybe there will be another Burt album before the year's over. There is one album I've been sitting on for a couple of year's now. This album has a very specific theme to it and it's been taking me some time to live up to it. I have recorded five songs for it, but it still doesn't feel complete. Included among those five tracks is the first song I ever recorded. This song opened my eyes to the fact that I could make music and opened the gates for Swirl.

My most recent endeavors include a music video for "The Day the Scrunchies Died", the I Hate Pop Music shirt, and some heavy online promotion.

As always, you can pick up Burt memorabilia at http://burt1316.spreadshirt.com
and you can pay with your credit card. Burt CD's are not avaialable there, however. If you want Burt Music, please head to my myspace page and follow the link that says "BUY BURT MUSIC - HERE."

I do have two CD's out at the moment. The first is called Swirl, and it is available for $4.00. The second is called I Hate Pop Music and is available for $5.00. Unfortunately, I have no official store where you can go to buy the CD's. The only source at the moment is to buy directly from me. If you can help me hook up a place to sell my CD's, let me know. There is a third CD in the works, but I'm not posting the title yet because I haven't copyrighted it yet.

I have played live twice. Once in a competition called Library Idol a few months ago and the second time in the Unitas Talent Showcase at UofL. I would like to play more live material, but I don't have any connections. If anyone can help me play a live show (preferrably as an opening act where I don't have to play a whole lot) please let me know. The reason I'd prefer to play as an opening act is because I'm a one man band at the moment. Not a whole lot of my songs sound all that great with only one of the instruments going. Some of them do sound acceptable, and I'd like to play those live if I can find the opportunity.

I'm also looking to promote myself a little more heavily. If you can help me in any way shape or form, let me know.

While this still is pretty much a new type of music, I finally found a genre. It's called Synth Rock. One big problem is that it's not available to chose from the genre listings. But hey, I'm Synth Rock regardless of what it says in the listing.

Thank you for indulging me and I will try to keep you posted.
