FLIGHT OF THE KNIFE - by Bryan Scary & The Shredding Tears
A conceptual work centered around the sky and outer space, the album marks the first appearance of Scary's touring band on a record. It was recorded with producer Brian McTear (Apollo Sunshine, Matt Pond PA) between tours last fall. Featuring a harder rocking sound and heavy emphasis on ensemble dynamics, FLIGHT OF THE KNIFE captures the bands' acclaimed live sound while expanding upon the studio wizardry and lush eccentricities of Scary's self-recorded debut.

Bryan Scary put on one of the most impressive live shows Ive seen in quite awhile. Do yourself a favor and give this a listen.
- FILTER Magazine
"FOUR STAR track review: Bryan Scary's debut album rocks the candy shop, pillaging it for as many audio confections as possible. It's adventurous, fully fleshed, and catchy as hell-- as indie pop should be."
- Pitchfork (Jan 4, 2007)
Stellar debutIncredibly talented...We think he is going to do very well.
-Perez Hilton (May 20, 2007)
Scary has mastered the art of mixing beautiful, Fab-Four-reminiscent melodies with indie pop.
- Paste Magazine (June 27, 2007)
"[The Shredding Tears] is one of the best records released in the last couple of years. There are precious few albums that truly and honestly deserve to be called masterpieces. Bryan Scary's debut is one of them."

- LETTER TO THE EDITOR -
JANUARY 9, 2007
Dear Citizens of Scaryville -
At a quarter past never, nursing a bottle of apple juice gone cider and a five o'clock shadow thick enough to mow, I made my way up the steps of the Ol' Factory. The corridors here stank of egg syrup and cut across the floor like stripes on a prostrate tie. I was searching for clues. The picture had fallen through the frame and crashed into puzzle pieces with razor sharp teeth that bit you when you weren't looking.
The place was still teetering atop the New Year, so I played push-broom, building at my feet a collection of last week's noisemakers. I was kicking dust into my own eyes. When it thinned to scraps I could just make her out, up on the far wall, the portal through which house-band BRYAN SCARY AND THE SHREDDING TEARS escaped at the final stroke of last year's caress. One party-goer described the giant clock as 'alive, pulsating, like someone stored a runaway heart in an apple pie." And when they jumped into its face as if through a hoop held aloft by some mad trainer of seals, the band left nary a trace of themselves.
Or so they thought. I'll devour this place - chomp it to bits. I'll find that stray guitar pick, that sliver off the side of that drumstick, that miscreant microphone stand. And Ladies and Gentlemen - I'll bring our boys back home.
DETECTIVE HANNIGAN B. LAWFUL
