The songs were recorded by Sam Pura at Panda Studios. Sam recorded our first album way back when we started out, and both Sam and us have come a long way. So, what are you waiting for? Broken Winter is driven by an undying passion for creating music and sharing it among friends and family. The Fremont, CA-based band writes music with no particular sub-genre in mind, as long as it's honest and just rock and roll. A member of another Fremont band that frequently shares the stage with Broken Winter described the band: "the new songs sound amazing, seriously, you guys have this thing about every song you guys write that makes it memorable and epic. I've always had that feeling watching you guys, its like every song you play is your last, it really makes you guys stand out."

Broken Winter recorded their debut full-length in July 2004 with Sam Pura (Heavy Heavy Low Low, Normal Like You). "Face Forward" was a collection of most the band's songs written in their first year together. Almost 2 years later, in March 2006, Broken Winter recorded their second effort, the EP "Before You Hit The Ground," with Scott Llamas (Facing New York, Locale AM, Love Equals Death). The EP contains six completely diverse songs, showing the band's willingness to write the kind of songs they want to write, not what "THE SCENE" wants them to write. Before You Hit The Ground covers new ground on different levels. Musically, with the addition of keyboards, more guitars, new ideas, and just an improvement in musicianship, the band is expanding into new areas of songwriting. Lyrically, they're also experiencing an expansion in new areas of consciousness: this isn't a cd full of the breakup songs that dominated their first release.
