Olive Hill and Grayson, Kentucky aren't exactly the most rockin towns in the Bluegrass state, so when something suddenly emerges it catches the eye. That has become evident quickly as 5-piece rock band Broken Shadows has become a force on the local music scene.
Broken Shadows is strongly influenced by such bands as Godsmack, Black Label Society, Seether, Alice in Chains and Slipknot to name a few. Weaving a sonic web that most will become entangled in, These 5 southern boys take the stage like the American Army took the beaches of Normandy in World War II, and leave all behind like the ruins of Hiroshima. Exploding on the stage with enough force to drop jaws before the chorus of the first song. Broken Shadows is a new breed of music. Heavy with groove, the type of music that you could mosh to, or just nod your head with the beats. The music they create is something new upon the mundane modern music scene.
The band consists of 5 guys determined to amaze with every strum of a guitar, pluck of a bass, bang on a drum, or scream into a microphone. It's guaranteed you'll beg for more when they leave the stage.
After going through about 18 different members, and writing better material with every stop, Broken Shadows has been molded into a sonic monster. The shredding guitars of Josh Burton and Chris King, the pounding bass of Rob Counts, and thundering drums of Craig Johnson are only complimented by the melodic vocals provided by Joe Hedge. This is the beast known as Broken Shadows. A force of nature, a reckoning on wheels. A disaster with groove. This is unstoppable.
Recently the band achieved one of their primary goals. Their song Down on Me was played during WAMX 106.3s weekly program Loud and Local. The goal is one of many that the band has set for itself.
If Broken Shadows continues at the pace theyre currently moving at then they could move past some of the more established local bands in the region a lot faster than expected.
