We Don't Know How To Spell "Normal"
blog post
Its about 9:10PM on December 17th. Greg and I have been here since about 4PM. Our good friend/producer/studio guy, Mike Snow, got here about 7:30PM. Its about 30 degrees in this room which is the churchs office/practice room, which is lovingly called Club 130 Jax. Snow and I are staying close to the space heater. Cara stopped by earlier to take some pictures.
Its Day 2 of recording for Broken Falls upcoming album, which were calling Reconciled only for tonight. The joke behind that is that this is the happy version of W&R. Musically it's more light and upbeat and lyrically it's more hopeful.
After tonight, I will now forevermore refer to Greg as Greg the One-Take Wonder Moses. Well, maybe not, but he nailed the new song No Tomorrow in one shot (other than the fact the computer freaked out towards the end, but otherwise it would have been perfect). We are currently working on Embrace which has been nothing short of hilarious. Its probably only funny to us since were tired and freezing.
Anyway, I know Im really excited about working on this record. Its a bit more reserved than the previous one, but were trying to stretch our musical abilities by incorporating different instruments and trying different music styles such as folk, jazz, and blues. Weve found spots for the tin whistle, harmonica, mandolin, dobro, and potentially the banjo, trumpet, and sax (no promises though). Well see what we can do for loops or programming which will be Snows doing.
The plan for now is for Greg and me to come back tomorrow and do some more work before we both go home for Christmas. Hopefully, we will be able to return in early January and keep moving forward.
Well, thats it for now. Well probably finish three tracks tonight and keep going tomorrow. Until next time.
-Brandon.
