BRITTNEY WORTHAM

Indie / Alternative / Powerpop

Hello lovely people. My name is Brittney Wortham in case you already didn't know. I hope you enjoy my music and find it fun. I would love if you would leave a comment, good or bad. They are all welcome (even though i'll admit, I probably won't approve the negative ones), but any criticism is welcome and it will only help me to create better tunes. I know I can't win them all, but I hope to win most! If you live in a far away place but think my music would go over well in your area, let me know, and maybe I can make a trip. Random facts about me: I have a fascination with Benjamin Gibbard, I aspire to be a female Sufjan Stevens, I hate the show "Cheers", I have an alter-ego named Autumn Huckabee who has pink hair and is a photographer, I have a cat named Fernando after an ABBA song, I am studying to be a Special-Ed teacher with a minor in Creative Writing. When my plate is not so full, I plan to start writing my novel, I am convinced John Goodman is an alien. I also help friends write funny and provacotive love letters. If you have any other questions, just ask. I'll somehow reply even though music profiles can't leave comments (or I am an idiot).
.Peace and Love.

Just incase you want to read it, here is my formal, yet less personal biography;
Starting at the early age of two years old, singing and performing for her Grandmother and all of her friends, it was clear that Brittney Wortham was always meant for the stage. As she grew older, her taste in music evolved significantly. Brittney's parents tried to get her into country music, but it just wasnt a good fit for her. As time went by, Brittney started finding bands and singers like Missy Higgins, Eisley, Spoon, Rilo Kiley and Death Cab for Cutie, who now influence her music style the most.

At an early age, Brittney had a natural ear for music. Picking up a stray instrument and learning a song by listening to the tune was no trouble. After learning how to play various instruments by ear, she then learned how to read shaped notes. Brittney first learned to play the piano, she then felt the need to expand her musical abilities by taking up the drums. After about a year of practicing, she felt the need to learn yet another instrument, the guitar, the bass being next. As for her singing career, she has been in many choirs, groups and bands over time, scoring superior ratings in solo events, as well as being a member in groups who had scored superior ratings. From Kindergarten to now, Brittney has been performing in school functions and out of school functions for different occasions. Brittney has taken voice lessons from many different teachers. Starting with a lady who would come help at her house, to formal lessons at Baylor and Lamar University. Although she was classicaly trained, her voice does so well in the area that she has chosen, alternative. On stage, it is not a rare site to see Brittney emotionally drain herself while performing. To her, a show wouldn't be a good show without feeling it. She feels that she must be into the music so that the audience will be as well.

Brittney's first band she was in, was in fact, a reggae band. A group of friends joined together to play their favorite of the island tunes. Brittney played the keyboard and sang backup vocals also. Brittney has not forgotten reggae music. Althought it may not be the strongest influence in her origional pieces, she never forgets to perform a song or two at her shows. The next band that she was in was a band she put together after a friend of hers asked her to form a band for her high school's Battle of the Bands. The group consisted of her two best friends and a great friend that she had known for a while. Covering songs from bands like The Who, The Beatles, and Creedence Clearwater Revival, she was well-rounded in her knowledge of music. She played the keys in the band as well, but offered the front vocals this time. These bands were so meaningful to her personaly, and helped her along the way in her music career.

Brittney merges alternative, indie, and pop into one through her songs. Writing, and arranging each song that is recorded and performed is something in which Brittney takes great pride. Her first cd, Magical Sounds has a track listing of all different sounding songs. Not one resembles another. Her music is quite unique and simply portrays Brittney so well.
