Metal Monday: A Hessian Confession

Posted December 21 | Leave a Comment

I went back to work at the metal shop on Monday. This was not due to any sort of failure on the part of the band, it was simply a way to kill a two-month break and make some money in the process. There are two things that are always present at the shop: metal, and Metal. So in homage to both, this Monday shall henceforth, and hereto forthwith, be known as Metal Monday. Newby: An Brief, Unauthorized, and Self-Indulgent History

Id like to pre-empt my usual weekly blog of brainpan gristle with a reflection on some sad news of which Ive recently been made aware. Anyone with a connection to the Muncie music scene of five to ten years ago knew a music den known as Stevie Rays House of Wax, along with the chain-smoking redheaded owner behind the counter we all called, well, Stevie Ray. The spot was a smoky upstairs room above a hot dog joint on University Avenue where youd find a few racks of lonely vintage shirts, some… read more

Recipes By Jonathon

I recently wrote a recipe for vegetarian quiche that will appear in an upcoming issue of Alternative Press magazine. I had so much fun writing it, I thought Id do it again, right here on Purevolume. Only this time, instead of vegetarian quiche, Ill give you my recipe for a quick tofu snack that will enlighten even the most adamant of flesh-eaters. I know I sound like a veggie-fanatic, but Im not. I just like healthy food and I like preparing it. Here are a few facts about tofu that you m… read more
