Bio: It might be hard to believe that BRAVE CITIZENSâ goliath-sounding debut EP Revolutions started as a laptop recording project that utilized closets and garages to record and share ideas between Los Angeles and San Francisco. But for vocalist Andrew Capra and guitarist Adam Bialik, itâs all that was needed to inspire the musical revolution that introduced BRAVE CITIZENS to the world.
By melding ethereal vintage with modern flair, Revolutions is truly a rock album at its core. But what lies withinâbold grandeur, big ambience, and melody-soaked pop powerâis the display of BRAVE CITIZENSâ ability to transcend a simple genre tag or style affiliation and root each listener in its complete emotionality.
When the final mixes of Revolutions hit the internet in late 2007, the resounding response fueled BRAVE CITIZENS to hit the ground running. Capra and Bialikâalong with road veterans Jarred Dooley (bass) and Alex Jones (drums)âwere demanded to bring their live experience to the masses while the bandâs buzz quickly spread throughout the music press and blogosphere.
BRAVE CITIZENS launched their maiden tour voyage in early 2008, quickly racking up thousands of touring miles throughout the west coast. The band was tapped to co-headline âThe Daily Chorusâ Tour in March while skyrocketing to #7 on the influential siteâs âTop Unsignedâ bands list, along with front-page features at Purevolume.com, Absolutepunk.net, and SomethingPunk.com among others. The band was then named âUnsigned Band Of The Monthâ by Alternative Press Magazine in May and was handpicked to play a string of dates on the 2008 Vans Warped Tour.
In the midst of non-stop touring and the continued success of Revolutionsâ digital release, BRAVE CITIZENS set October 7 for the physical release of the albumâa Deluxe Edition that features two bonus tracks not on the original digital-only version. More acclaim poured in for the band to advance the release of the Deluxe Edition including KROQ in Los Angeles spinning the first single âAll Or Not,â song placements confirmed on network television and artist features at both Myspace and AOL Music.
And this is just the beginning. To support the new Deluxe Edition release, BRAVE CITIZENS have confirmed more live dates throughout the fall and into 2009 where the band will embark on a nationwide tour, all while assembling the pieces for their debut full-length release.
World, meet Brave Citizens.
- BandNation
"This undeniably handsome (man crush!) duo churns out moody, dark, indie pop thatâs hard to dislike. Slightly dancy, slightly naughty and very good; Revolutions is all these things. Clear your bellies and allow me to cram Brave Citizens down your throat. In a good way, of course...This album comes with just about my highest recommendation". - AbsolutePunk
"This band has big shoes to fill. And I mean big. Brave Citizens becomes our third band to enter the Top Ten [Top Unsigned List], while playing one show or less. Who were the other two? They were The Maine (Fearless) and Forever The Sickest Kids (Universal Motown). BC can make a national statement like those two before them. The positive vibe and smoothness of this band is really uplifting. Look for this band to get scooped up early. Their music can capture the teenage listener to the 30-something."- The Daily Chorus (Top Ten)
"After the digital release of its stadium rock-filled EP Revolutions, Brave Citizens has gained the attention of students and blogs around the nation."- New University + Interview
"[The band] have been catching the eyes and ears of publications nationwide...the lyrics are soulful and full of life"- Trash The Stage + Interview
"The result of all these sensations and the devotion of a duo made in heaven is Revolutions; a diamond in the rough" (4 stars)- SomethingPunk.com
"Beginning with the very first notes on The Same Way, the opening track on Brave Citizens debut EP, Revolutions, all four masterfully crafted songs pull you in and refuse to let you go. Comparisons to Mute Maths soaring sound and Mews haunting melodies, while accurately drawn, dont even begin to fully capture this SoCal duos powerful draw. These songs were born to fill stadiums. The deliciously dark, gritty guitars on How Much Longer? are particularly notable, as are [Andrew] Capras vocals throughout every offering." (4/5)- The Owl Mag
"How refreshing! Thats one of the first things that came to our mind when we played The Same Way for the first time...Right out of the starting gate the guitar grabs you and rocks you non-stop to the end. This is a very fun and driving song...were giving this one 5 stars!" (5/5)- IndieShows.net
