Blind Guardian is a German power metal formed in 1985 under the name Lucifer's Heritage, releasing two demos before changing to Blind Guardian. Their first full-length album was 1988's "Battalions of Fear", and their most recent was 2002's "A Night At The Opera". They had the same lineup from their first album until 2005 (an impressive feat for any band) when drummer Thomen Stauch left to participate full-time in his other band, Savage Circus. He was replaced by Frederik Ehmke. Blind Guardian's music is characterized by the classic fast guitars and double-bass drumming of power metal, but is relatively unique in its use of overdubs to create an extremely dense, "epic" sound
