He has played many venues with alot of diffent bands in many genres. He is constantly writing new material, and will perform at your local venue, Book store, starbucks, or festival. Sitting in his one bedroom apartment, rented from a Northport family on Long Island, Blane Richoux said that he is homeless.

I dont really have a home. Theres no place that really feels like home to me. I feel like a stranger everywhere I go, Blane said.

While most high school graduates were saying their goodbyes to their family and friends in the summer before they went off to college, Blane spent his eighteenth summer living alone.

During his senior year of high school, his family moved to Georgia. I was overwhelmed by what I thought I wanted to do with my life, he said.
Last October, Blane decided that he would stay on Long Island to attend Five Towns College as a Jazz Composition student while his family moved to Roswell, GA.

I dont think it really hit them that they werent going to see me anymore. My little sister Emilie was just like, Bye, brother! he said.

Blane lived in Lafayette, LA for the first five years of his life before moving to Holbrook, NY. After his sixth birthday he moved again to Coram, NY, where he lived until this summer.

Blane said he was never happy about the initial move from the relaxed south to the bustle of Long Island.

I hate Long Island, he said. Its overpriced and over crowded. People are stuck up here and act like theyre more deserving than other people. There are problems everywhere and no one really cares to do anything about them.

Blane was left to live in his parents house until it was sold. The house was not his familys home anymore. He said he felt out of place and lost.
Blane, a guitar player and vocalist, has written and recorded many songs. One song reflects his constant search for a place to call home with the lyrics, If home is where the heart is, then where is home without my heart?

My only relief from all of the stress was music, Blane said. And thats when I discovered that if I wasnt writing songs and making music, I might as well not exist.

After his parents home was sold in August, he had to move out into a small apartment in East Northport, a half hour away from Coram.
Blane said he had to learn to be very frugal with his spending and shopping for groceries, as being a teenage vegetarian is not always economic.

Blane has an optimistic attitude about his life and said, I am not focused about what will happen in the future, but rather the here and now.

Special thanks to Ms. Emily Canty.
