BLAKK MARKET is a Thrash/Melodic Death Metal act hailing from Brazil, first assembled during 2002 as a project. After many line-up changes, the band settled as a quartet, comprising vocalist Fernando Melleu and the ex-DESPOTIC trio, guitarists Thiago Rocha and Alexandre Schneider, and bassist Felippe Chiella.
BLAKK MARKET's November 2004 demo 'Hateful Affection', limited to 350 copies, includes a multimedia track featuring band bio, pics, bonus material and a video for the track 'Twisted Broadcast'.
As of 2005, KK took part in the 'Indians... NOT! Brazilian Tribute to Anthrax', put together by Anthrax.com.br and So Paulo's Collision records. The band recorded a "Double K" version for the classic track 'Indians', in a tribute full of highlights.
BLAKK MARKET commenced recording the album 'Self-improvement: Suicide' at AML Studios with producer Alexei Leo in early November '06. The band expects an early-2008 release and is currently looking for a label/distribution partners.
Enjoy!

Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, other cases and etc;
And so our Double K recording campaign goes on.
Not all is calm on the western front: the Guitar platoon founded heavy Charlie resistance and halted its position just 23 miles outside Saigon. To avoid direct confrontation, we've deployed the heavy bass artillery to balance efforts. At this point we're suffering from lack of provisions, as the heavy gauged strings we were using are nowhere to be found in the local arsenals. Importing them from So Paulo (capital of Laos) was the solution, but due to road blocks and shipment delays, it's unlikely that they will arrive anytime soon; as a matter of fact, no sign that they will arrive at all.
Until then Major Chiella is in charge of the bass recording operation. From day one the whole effort was almost doomed to failure, for the tones were not quite what we expected. Not bad tones at all - just not perfect, and as Master Yoda said "Do or do not. Theres no try".
So, after a quick briefing with the HQ, we decided to try something new to improve the troops' moral. Major Chiella recorded the new tracks using picks (!!!) and a new and improved tone with his Tech21 SansAmp. As a result, we achieved a great bass tone with body and definition. The use of a newly developed high impact instrument made by Copetti was crucial for this result.
Next step was recording everything this way, and re-record three previously done tracks.
While we wait for the arrival of the string supplies in order to get back with the guitar strike, the bass tracks lay down will continue as scheduled... we intend to take out all enemy bases in Hanoi Bay by next week.

On the luxurious facilities of our wisely named Captain on the Bridge Studios, a homage to the great skipper and notorious Headbanger James T. Kirk, we have initiated the recording procedures of our debut album's rhythm guitars. The troop's moral was high. The sound of enemy artillery no longer bothered the brave soldiers, marching towards the front etc, etc, etc. The first step taken was the garrison of supplies (Soda, peanuts, cigarettes and all sorts of party candy). Next we arranged some thick consistent guitar tones to match the album's overall sound.
The weapons of choice were an Epiphone G400 Les Paul Custom, with our standart B tune and 0.13 strings, and the old faithful Jackson Ultra Plus, with the same tuning and strings.
After two days using a Line 6 POD XT to create the tones and heat up our pizza, we proceeded to the next step: the siege and fall of Constantinople.
Returning victorious from Constantinople, along with the spoils of war, we started the laborious recording process itself. We are using the classic 2 rhythm tracks per song, later to insert the colorful wonders of guitar wizardry (A.K.A. as Lead Guitars). Thiago wrapped out the rhythm sections of three songs including a new tune. Tension was building up, as wild animals kept ruining good takes and the swimming pool was inappropriate for scuba diving.
Anyhow, here we are... three rhythm sections are down, 7 to go.

Ahoy!
We entered Captain on the Bridge Studios this week to begin guitar recording sessions for our debut album, 'Self-improvement: Suicide'. Produced by Alexei Leo (Stormental, Shadow of Sadness, Display) and Blakk Market, the album features 10 tracks - three of them known from the band's previous work - and is due out mid 2007.
We also finished the album's pre-production recently, and posted one of the previously unreleased tracks, 'Nova', online; the track features guest vocals by Roberto Cassani, long time friend of the band.
Check it out on our profile or our official home - www.blakkmarket.com.br.

Ok, KK are finally recording!
This last thursday marked the start of the drum sessions at AML Studios. We spent a few hours there through thursday and friday, and there's more to come next weekend.
We managed to capture and finish three out of ten songs, and the results are really nice.
We'll be posting a recording diary here sometime soon. Don't know if this blog-thingy here goes with pics & vids, so...
See ya!
