Straight out of Cincinnati, Ohio comes the grindcore, thrash, melodic metal band, laying Black Shadows Within. Started on July 29th, 2006, the band wanted to sound like a lot like there inspires and influences, but at the same time wanted to come up with there own metal style. To do this, they have played many cover songs and got the feel for the music and then they took ideas from the cover songs and made them into there own riffs and plans. This created the band.

The story on how this band formed is very complex. In the past, Steven Reuss "drums/vocals/acoustic guitar" and Waylon Baker "lead guitar" were in a band called Enemy Ever More Brutal but the band had fallen apart. Next, Steven created a band with Terrence Smiley, Dylan Newport, and Aaron Olson called Xylen. That band was never making anything of themselves so the band fell apart. Then Steven started a new band with Dylan Newport as the guitarist. This band was called Shattered Inside. They started to consume more people. They only recieved a bass player, Dreston Stiger. This band wasn't going so well after a little while. Steven needed members. Then he thought about Waylon. He asked Waylon if he wanted to be in the band and he said yes bringing along Jack Pollard, rythem guitarist. Jack and Waylon were leaving there old band that was falling apart to join up with this one. Soon they figured out that having three guitarists were to hard on the band so they had a thought. They kicked out Dreston because he wasn't making it to the practices, and switched Dylan from the guitar to the Bass. Soon after this switch, Dylan was cut from the band. Next up was the bassist, Tim Jones. The same thing had happened again, he was cut from being to busy, not having time for practice. next came the bassist Terrence Smiley. He again was not making practices. He was in the band for a lttle while but kicked out later on. He was the only bass player that had stuck with the band for awhile. Finally came the bassist Tom Flick Who is now in the band. He had stuck with the band and became the offical bass player of Black Shadows Within. Steven and Waylon were vocalists of the band but found out that it can be hard. Jack was cut from the band awhile ago because of his drug problems. When that happend, the band comsumed a guitarist named Dan Fisse. After time went along, Jack called up the band and he said that he was sorry and that he quit the drugs, so the band kicked Dan out and got Jack back in the band. But his problems happend again and he was replaced by John Parsons (rythem guitar). Both Waylon and Steven wanted to go crazy in acts and in the music playing but they couldn't do this if they had to sing and scream all the time. So now they were on the search for a new vocalist. Mainly one who could scream fairly well. Steven had thought of a drummer named Cody Shanks and asked him if he wanted to be the lead vocals of this band. He said yes. Next they had an idea to have to lead vocals...one who screams and one who sings. They then found Aaron Olson. This never worked out because one, it didn't sound very good and to they were always late for practice. Then they found Chris Hager, the final vocalist of the band. He does both screaming, and singing and with that he plays the synth.
