BIOGRAPHY (ENGLISH)

"bit reduce" is an electronic music experiment, if by this label we mean that they use both electronic and acoustic instruments: their way of using them - that is, the classic home studio dominated by inexpensive computers - is what characterizes their sound and makes them a part of electronic music in its broadest sense. their technique is to play sessions like any other rock band, and then sample them so they can be used as if they were loops taken from vinyl. their focus is always on the rhythm and the beat, but it is built into a structure much like that of a classic pop song. in this sense, theirs is a path that leads from the beatles to underworld, just as from mano negra to rino gaetano. over house music programming and latest generation synthetic sounds, simple and intelligent vocal melodies keep on prevailing while, mixed with samples and delays, and together with the sound of guitars, linking club moods with the song form. even in their lyrics, the intent is to actualize language, to feel it living, and they integrate italian and english not as an affectation, but in order to document a process that can be witnessed daily in the spoken language. the project was born in early 2002 in turin, as part of the phenomena that is the musical scene in this city, stimulated by its atmosphere and its ever pulsing club culture. in this sense, the divergent histories of the two members, kino (a programmer and sound technician, and a collaborator of africa unite, bluvertigo, and vinicio capossela) and mao (a musician with various albums to his name) are a good representation of the style their music takes as it moves between acoustic guitars and drum machines. bit reduce's list of credits includes various club nights in turin (docks home, bar bar, hiroshima mon amour), rome (magazzini generali), and milan (leoncavallo), a few musical installations (the san filippo art gallery, villa capriglio), and talking part in the tora tora festival. "bad boy screaming" gets released in the following year on the "piemontegroove" compilation. "bit reduce" is still a side-project amongst the infinite activities of mao, that keeps working extemporarily in the electronic music field, so this project could "defrost" itself and express itself once more in the future. 2006: at the moment 17 tracks were composed and are ready.

"bit reduce" ovvero esperimento di musica elettronica, se con quest'ultima etichetta intendiamo la fusione tra strumenti elettronici ed acustici: la modalit nel suonarli, ovvero il classico homestudio dominato da economici computer, caratterizza il sound del progetto e li inserisce nell'ambito della musica elettronica in senso lato. la tecnica consiste infatti nel suonare delle session come una qualunque rock band e farne dei campioni, in modo da poterli usare come se fossero dei loop presi dal vinile. l'attenzione sempre rivolta al ritmo, al beat, inserito in una struttura simile a quello della classica pop song; in questo senso un percorso che va dai beatles agli underworld, come dai mano negra a rino gaetano. sulle programmazioni house e sui riff sintetici dell'ultima generazione continuano a fare da padrone delle semplici e intelligenti melodie vocali che, confuse negli impasti con i campionamenti e i delay, e accompagnate dal suono delle chitarre, sono il tramite che lega una realt da club ad una forma canzone. nei testi l'intenzione quella di attualizzare il linguaggio, sentirlo vivo, integrando l'italiano e l'inglese non per un vezzo, bens per documentare un processo che possiamo rilevare quotidianamente nella lingua parlata. il progetto nasce all'inizio del 2002 a torino, nell'ambito di quel fenomeno che la scena musicale di questa citt, stimolato dal suo ambiente e dalla sua club culture sempre pi pulsante. in questo senso l'estrazione diversa dei due componenti, ovvero kino, programmatore e tecnico del suono, gi collaboratore di africa unite, bluvertigo, soerba, vinicio capossela, ed il nostro mao, rappresenta bene la linea della loro musica che si muove tra chitarre acustiche e drum machine. i "bit reduce" fanno nel duemiladue la loro apparizione in diverse serate nei club di torino (come docks home, bar bar, hiroshima mon amour), roma (ai magazzini generali), milano (allo storico leoncavallo), per alcune installazioni sonore, alla galleria d'arte san filippo neri e alla villa capriglio, ed una partecipazione al "tora! tora!". l'anno venturo viene pubblicato il pezzo "bad boy screaming" per la compilation "piemontegroove". "bit reduce" rimane un side-project tra le infinite attivit del molleggiato torinese, che in ogni caso continua estemporaneamente a lavorare in campo elettronico, per cui non detto che il progetto non possa "scongelarsi" ed avere nuove manifestazioni in futuro. 2006: al momento sono stati composti e pronti 17 pezzi.
