..ALL ABOUT BECKY!..


Becky Johnson grew up just north of Chicago and began singing as a kid and later picked up the guitar at age 15 and began teaching herself. She has been writing songs and playing ever since. In college, Johnson has been actively involved in music for rhe past four years at North Park University in Chicago, IL. During her sophomore year, she spent a semester in an artist colony of 30 students at the CMC (Contemporary Music Center) on Martha's Vineyard. There she gained experience in songwriting, performing, and recording. Becky returned to North Park with a completed demo, and much performance experience. She has since been playing at local bars, coffeehouses, and college campuses in the Chicago area. In 2003 she was invited to sing at the DuPage County Fair. Since returning to Chicago, she has been performing with her twin brother David on djembe. In recent months, Becky has been recording with rocker Chris Sernel from Chicago's hit band, Escape from Earth. Although Johnsons band has changed in the past few years, her music has continued to touch hearts and excite audiences everywhere she plays. Her voice has been compared to Sarah McLachlan and her strong acoustic guitar led songs are interspersed with contemplative lyrics similar to Alison Krauss and Jewel. Johnson is devoted to being candidly honest in her songs. Her words come from her heart and she hopes to convey that passion to anyone who is willing to listen. Johnson says, I believe a single person can make a difference in improving society. I hope to do just that!
