Barbeque Bob Maglinte, a seasoned veteran blues harmonica virtuoso and vocalist from the Boston, MA area, after dealing with kidney failure for
several years, recently received a kidney transplant, and is now back on the scene with a vengeance. His playing has been a big influence over the years on a number of local area musicians, and continues to be so. Bob has played and toured with more than a few luminaries in the world of Blues, such as the late, great former Muddy Waters guitarist and Chess recording artist Jimmy Rogers, Sunnyland Slim, former Muddy Waters guitar man Luther
"Guitar Junior" Johnson, and Louisiana Red (he was chosen to replace Blues
harmonica great Carey Bell on a Northeast tour). He has called his sound as
basically the sound of classic 50's style Chicago styled Blues, infused
with the sounds of West Coast Jump Blues and Swing, making his distinctive
sound a force to be reckoned with.

Barbeque Bob's influences are many, and they include Blues harmonica masters like Little Walter Jacobs, both Sonny Boy Williamsons, James Cotton, Junior Wells, Big Walter Horton, Papa Lightfoot, George "Harmonica" Smith, Jerry McCain, Howling Wolf, and many countless other harmonica players. Other influences include Muddy Waters, Roy Brown, Little Milton, Joe Turner, Wynonie Harris, Magic Sam, Jimmy Rogers, and in addition, saxophone players like Joe Houston, Hal Singer, Red Prysock, Louis Jordan, Willis "Gator Tail" Jackson, Illinois Jacquet, Noble "Thin Man" Watts, Tab Smith, and a host of others. His playing has not only garnered enormous respect and admiration from his peers, but also from some very highly respected nationally known names, such as Jerry Portnoy (who worked with the late, great Muddy Waters, and Eric Clapton), who has said, "Barbeque Bob is not only the best harp player in the Boston area, but is also one of the very best around, period!" Another Blues harmonica hero, Alligator Records recording artist, the late, great William Clarke described Bob's playing as "powerful and well focused."

Bob has worked with local bands such as The Bobby Watson Band, Blues
Express, and Chick Orlando Davidson. He also had the privilege of appearing on the soundtrack of the hit movie, "Fried Green Tomatoes," featuring the
vocals of Peter Wolf, and the guitar soundings of Ronnie Earl & The
Broadcasters. The soundtrack CD is available on the MCA label. He has also
recorded with Blues Express and Two Bones & A Pick.

He recently released an album on the Wham Records label, 'Barbeque Bob Maglinte and The Rhythm Aces: Live at The Waterfront'. The album can be purchased at CDBaby.com by clicking on the link to the right of this page.
