As 2010 draws to a close, people are undoubtedly asking themselves, “Where’s the party at?!” Well, it’s on tour with BALLYHOO!, that’s where! They are the featured act on the Florida leg of Authority Zero’s headlining worldwide tour. The concert will be held at the Seabreeze Amphitheater in Jupiter, Florida on Friday, November 19th. BALLYHOO! will have just come off of their nationwide tour, opening for The Supervillains, and several tour dates with 311.
Only a band as talented and respected as BALLYHOO!, would have the honor of being asked to join bands of that caliber. It’s no easy feat and can be quite daunting, but BALLYHOO! welcomes the challenge, all the while capitalizing on the opportunity to gain exposure and fans, “It’s always intimidating when playing for another band’s crowd, you never know how they’re gonna react,” explains Howi, “but then you see that they’re enjoying it and the worry goes away. You’re free to rock at that point!”.
BALLYHOO! has been on the road nonstop promoting their latest album (produced by Scotch Ralston (311), “Cheers!”, since its release in May 2009. They have made touring their top priority and they can, without a doubt, attribute their current success to their dedication to the road, “We’ve been playing for so long, it’d be weird to stop now. Our last album, “Do It For The Money!”, has really opened a lot of doors for us and has spread like wildfire in the underground,” says front man Howi Spangler, “The new record’s got rock, reggae, acoustic and even some power ballads!”.
BALLYHOO! band mates, Howi, JR, Donald and Scott, have been skillfully crafting their sound, a mixture of pop, rock, reggae and punk rock, since their high school days in Aberdeen, MD. They have seen their fan base steadily grow with every show due, in no small part, to their nonstop tour schedule. However, having their stellar rendition of “40 Oz. to Freedom” be featured on the compilation album, “Forever Free: A Tribute to Sublime”, has certainly helped grow their popularity and recognition. You can also hear BALLYHOO! songs on the Rock Band network and 2 songs featured in the upcoming feature films “Green Flash” and “Road Trip II: Beer Pong”.
