Warning: The songs on this page are, largely, works in progress. The information below, however, is complete. Please enjoy!
Elusive was a 5 piece band that formed in the summer of 1996 in Albuquerque. The band had an outside show lined up for August 16th at Hinkle Family Fun Center. However, due to rain the show was moved into a small, acoustically dead room. The acoustics of the room blended perfectly with the band's lackluster equipment and inherent lack of tuning. This trifecta of suck made that night one to remember.
So they did what any band in their position would do, they moved on. They jammed when everyone was back in town. They tried other bands, and jammed with other people. They graduated college or started their careers, and then families.
Let's jump forward here. After almost a decade in the Northwest, Dave has moved back from Seattle and Rob from Portland. The remaining members: Rick, Rob, and Dave as well as the new member Karl have decided to push on. It was decided that since there was a new member and the name Elusive is in use by a Norwegian band, a new name was in order. Thus Back by October.

I have deleted all but 3 of our songs from this page. We have been recording some recent sessions, and while they are not album recordings, we are looking to post some new material here. In the past we were using this site as a way to communicate between 3 seperate states. Since that is no longer necessary, we will no longer be posting unfinished songs. If anyone is out there reading this, thanks for sticking around. Please feel free to check out our myspace page at www.myspace.com/elusive96. Hasta!

The band is finally all in one place, hell we've even decided to add a member. After Rob and Dave are done settling in, we will get back to recording. We may even, one day, have an album to put out. Imagine that. I don't know if anyone is reading this, but thank you for your patience and patronage. I'm excited about the prospect of updating the songs we have up. I'm also really excited about the songs that haven't been recorded, only fine tuned throughout the practices. Thanks for sticking around my invisible friends, talk to you later.

On behalf of the band, I just wanted to say thank you to anyone who may be checking out our songs over at www.soundclick.com/elusive96. That website charts songs based on unique song listens, and the last week has been pretty active. So, thank you again!

Ok, here is the result of the meeting that we had today. The 17 songs posted in the Decade and Works in Progress albums (plus the yet to be recorded The Weight of Now) are the 18 songs we are concentrating on to finish for the upcoming album.
We also discussed a band name change due to a Norwegian group already having Elusive (bummer considering that we are now 11 plus years into having the name). That discussion was a little slower going, with no real decision made. But hey, we've got time, right? We don't really have to have a new name cemented in place until we are ready to start printing CDs, and that is still a little way off.
I'm not sure who reads these blogs, but there is an even that we submitted some songs to, it is called download for the cure. It's a cancer awarness online CD. Even if we don't make it on the CD, please check it out here: http://www.downloadforthecure.org/Flash/home.html it's a worthwhile cause, and you are garunteed some great music. Which is what is called a win win I believe.

I added two songs to the Lest We Forget album: Thump and Blues (both working titles of course). Lost and Found has been added to the Works in Progress album.
