Formed in December 2004, six young teenagers from Sacramento, CA set out to break the mold of the current trends evident in not just their genre, but the scene itself. Influenced by the versatile sounds of The Dillinger Escape Plan, the rage driven intensity of Zao, and the euphonic melodies of bands like Hopesfall and Thrice, they created a unique distinctive sound of metal, indie, and hardcore that was convulsive, diverse and inimitable.
The boys got their start practicing in an abandoned shed in Rio Linda, CA. Before they could take the stage they'd decide on a name. From that point on they would be known as Awaiting the End. The name being a reference to end times, showcasing the message at the forefront of the band. Vocalist- Miles Lehman explains: "We as Christians believe that Jesus Christ will one day return as He promised, to judge the world... But until then, what are we doing? It seems there's countless "christians", that spend more time guessing when that actual day will be, than making an impact with the days they already have. To us, it's important we live an active faith and let our actions speak over our words. We don't want to tell people how to live, we want them to see how we live... and hopefully the impact our faith has had in our lives will mean something to them."
Once they had decided on a name, the band began playing shows around their hometown. Soon thereafter they caught the eyes of people in high places locally, earning them spots on a diverse range of national shows. As time went on, their name was recognized by virtually all in the local scene.
Though school held the band back from touring in the early years, they were able to make a name for themselves nationally via social networking/music sites such as myspace and purevolume. In late 2007 the band recorded new material with Kris Crummett (Drop Dead Gorgeous, Dance Gavin Dance, Fear Before the March of Flames) and the end product showcased the growth and evolution that had taken place in the band over the years. It was then undeniable, there were big things to come. With the hardwork and perseverance that got them to where they are, you can be sure it's only time till Awaiting the End is on the road, touring with their more established counterparts.
