Montreal, Canada based August Elliot was founded in 2002 as a 4 member punk-rock outfit. Down to its 2 original members, Rachel Tremblay and Mitch Leduc, the band has found the sound they truly love. More laid-back, with a new penchant for sweet melancholic ballads, August Elliot is sensitive and edgy electro-rock.

Mitch lays tight grooves on the bass, while Rachel sings and colors the whole with some string-pulling, chord-grinding and pluck-strumming guitar styles.

From downtempo to upbeat, August Elliot's electronic backbone is the perfect complement to their melodic songwriting and message of struggle, survival, love and unity.

RACHEL'S PERSONAL BIO / AE HISTORY

Born into a musical family, i started dabbling with the living room guitars at a very young age. I was playing Iron Maiden and Metallica at nine on my killer B.C. Rich Warlock, in awe of rocker Lita Ford. By twelve i was playing violin, drums and trumpet; i later picked up piano and bass guitar... grew up singing and harmonizing, spent years writing rhymes and rapping, and ultimately emerged as a guitarist, i tend to call myself, who also happens to write songs and sing half decent.

From Matane (gaspsie) to Kelowna (BC), i mostly jammed, learned covers, and wrote punk-rock riffs. When i moved to Ottawa i finally got serious about writing original material, which led to my first recording experience with some rap/metal songs in the studio of a family friend. I archived those in a shoebox along with some good ol hip hop trax i did with my bud and his 505.

After a year of Ottawa in my blood, i moved to Montreal, and eventually got a call to play guitar in an original band made of up semi-famous ex-members, and into this project i put my heart and soul. Eight months later we broke up, i was really disappointed. Out of this frustration i decided to spear-head my own project...August Elliot. This generated an eleven-song, s/t cd (check www.augustelliot.com for a few archived songs) which i wrote and arranged, and then co-engineered with Pierre Tremblay (www.myspace.com/peterxband). During the writing process i "hired" my husband mitch as a bassist and Hugo Doyon (www.myspace.com/useedmusic, www.majorlee.net/), for the recording. Not long after my sister Lien (www.myspace.com/yeahrights) joined mitch and I as a backup vocalist/guitarist, along with drummer Ian Bourbonnais. We played gigs around Montreal and Ottawa for a year, and slowed down for my second pregnancy.

After much consultation and pondering, mitch and i refocused as a duo, and started implementing our affinity for producing electronic beats. Thus, a year later, AE was re-invented with doubled passion and fresh energy. Our makenice ep is now on the way and ready to tingle your ears.
