Members: Ryan Turner, Jacob Roseberry, Kevin Hayes, Eric Gress
In southwest Virginia, the name August has been floating around on live-show flyers for longer than most bands have been in tune.
Augusts sound is pop-punk, indie rock, pop rock, new-school emo, powerpop, and sometimes acoustic. If you catch singer Eric Gress with an acoustic guitar, sitting on his porch in the early a.m. hours, you might even hear a Tim McGraw cover.
However, when playing with his bandmates, guitarist, Kevin Hayes, bassist, Jacob Roseberry, and drummer, Ryan Turner, its likely to sound like the newest band on the Vans Warped Tour.
The bands debut record, Throw Hope Out The Window, is a year and a half old now, and you'll rarely hear songs from the album during a live set. August has been busy writing new material. They're latest album,"Let's Start a Trend", was released August 2008. While most bands are adding a bulk of screams to attract the ever-growing hardcore scene, Gress has kept on singing. August songs are catchy, well written, relatable, and original.
Look out for more August news this year- its going to be the bands best yet.
