Once upon a time, in a strange land called Cape Elizabeth, Maine. Emma The Terrible and Hudson The Lvl 12 Paladin, met at Cape Elizabeth Middle School on December 1st, 2003 (on Hudson's first day of School in Yankeeland, you see dear reader, Hudson is originally from Alexandria, Louisiana) This was more or less the beginning of the friendship that would ultimately become Arsenic and Lace *thunder crashes*. On March 11th of 2004 Hudson and Emma started hanging out and the two became inseperable. Especially after the whole, gamma radiatio experiment and whatnot. So naturally the two started playing music together.
Emma always had been in the Cape Elizabeth High School band, (as a floutist) and an on off piano player. She also had a small backround in drums, and guitar but that ended in disaster after she found her teachers eating the souls of the damned in the bathroom. Emma was lost, so she ran, ran far away to find her true self. Emma The Terrible became a captain of the ship "Rasputin", and after sailing the high seas and looting tiny islands off the coast of Japan for seven years, she played a game of poker with Godzilla and won his bass guitar. The power of bass coarsed through her veins with doom filled goodness and Emma became the best bass player known to ever fly above the earth! Emma plays bass for various jazz bands, sings backup for Arsenic and Lace, and still plays the flute for CEHS band.
Hudson was in drumline for a year in his home town of Alexandria, Louisiana. But because Hudson was tired of selling various organs off ebay to pay for it, he quit. When Hudson moved to Maine, Hudson went to his first real punk show, a fan of the Ramones since an early age, Hudson watched with trepidation as "The Leftovers", "In The Arms of Providence", "The Guts", and "the Vapids." rocked so hard they woke the dead. And Hudson moshed with the undead for the very first time. He was awed, and amazed, so much that he spent his life savings on his first guitar. And he learned, and he learned good and well. Four hours a day of practice, every day, rain, shine, or armageddon. Since then Hudson has taken to his roots, and plays drums for various jazz bands, and bass for CEHS band, and Arsenic and Lace's little brother punk band, The Project.
Emma picked up the bass as Hudson was just starting to enter a dark time in his life, having broken up with his old band Easily Amused (sorry kids, screamo sucks) Hudson was lost and confused. But then one day in an epic meeting of minds the two joined together and said "Hey...uh....you wanna start a band together?" And The Saga Began! With a myriad of drummers at their side the two started their first band, Macy's Day Parade (A Shameless Rip-Off of Greenday) and after a short run, the dynamic duo got bored, and started writing their own stuff. Since then, Macy's Day Parade, has broken up to allow more focus on Arsenic and Lace, and the other bands the two are involved in.
Emma and Hudson love oldschool punk, and yearn for the days of The Clash, The Ramones, Iggy Pop, Rancid, and other such truly punk bands. The two hope to one day enter a land where children with gumdrop smiles, play in rivers of milk chocolate, under a sun of licorice, and clouds of cotton candy, through the restoration of the beauty that is oldschool punk. The two give an entrancing performance that involves Hudson going absolutely berserk on stage, and Emma being the only real link to sanity in the room. This dynamic duo is the next Batman and Robin, Holmes and Watson, Jekly and Hyde, Peanut Butter and Jelly, destroy your false idols, bow to the incredible might that is Arsenic and Lace!
