A Road Eternal formed when Ex-SVUS members decided to start over in order to give the band another chance and another name. After taking a break from SVUS, David, Chris and Brian started working on new material, as well as finding a new bassist with the right attitude. Through several months of searching, they found Eric, who shared the same views, ideas, and drive as the rest of the band.

Vocalist Brian Hamrick (Dirty Finger, Blue Mans God) has worked in other bands, but none of the previous bands were quite what he was looking for. Guitarist David Phillips and drummer Chris Peavy (Paradox) stepped away from their first project after many creative differences. Bassist Eric Hamrick worked in many projects, but was willing to give this new opportunity a chance after being contacted by what would later be known as A Road Eternal.
