The Arkamo Rangers join a proud Ozarks tradition forged by the likes of the Ozark Mountain Daredevils, the Undergrass Boys and Big Smith take up bluegrass music, twist it enough to suit your needs, and create something entirely new but absolutely ozarkian in the process. The Rangers are a quartet of youthful pickers who play like seasoned veterans on their self-titled CD. These 12 original songs place them and you the listener firmly in a place called Arkamo - or what many have called the state of the Ozarks the hill regions of southern Missouri and northern Arkansas that have more in common culturally than they do with the other regions of either state. These songs will transport you there, and you will definitely enjoy your stay.
The Rangers came together in the fall of 2002. Long time-friends Dave Harp (mandolin) and Dan Danjo Spencer (banjo) got the ball rolling and quickly added a pair of cousins Jimmy (guitar) and Gary Rea (bass). Rounding out the sound of their first CD are special guests Bo Brown of Hogmolly on dobro and Molly Healey of MooreHealey on fiddle.
