APOSTASY

APOSTASY is an extreme metal band based primarily out of the suburban town of North Haven, Connecticut. They formed in 2002 under the name Hollow Point. After recording their first demo, Black Winter, the following year as Corporal Downfall, they settled on the name Necrosis and played a small handful of shows. After recording a second demo entitled MMIII A.D., personal tensions and constant personnel changes led to the collapse of Necrosis midway through November of 2003.
The band reformed only two months later with a new direction and fresh determination. Only carrying over a handful of songs from the previous sessions, this incarnation christened itself Apostasy, and have spent the past few years creating a blend of hardcore, death metal, and hard rock that would become a trademark sound. Powered by crushing songs like "Nuclear Sunrise" and "In God We Trust", Apostasy steamrolled through several final lineup rotations before settling on the defining group of musicians consisting of Ryan, Danielle, John, Zach, and Gus. Bringing influences from nearly every genre of extreme rock music, Apostasy has risen to a dominant status in the Connecticut music scene, largely due to their appeal to crowds of all tastes. Since conception, the band has shared the stage with such bands as Obituary, Napalm Death, Strapping Young Lad, Therion, Dope, Mushroomhead, Powerman 5000, Manntis, Misery Signals, The Agony Scene, Wednesday 13, and the legendary Misfits.
Apostasy is currently undergoing a bit of a style change and working on introducing a brand new, more mature sound. Combining elements of European death metal with classic thrash, the new material will only accent the mark that the band is making on the world around them. They are presently finishing writing for their first full length album, an 11-song yet-to-be-titled disc that will be released sometime this summer. Apostasy can be seen playing shows mostly in the Greater New Haven and Hartford areas, but are seeking to branch out all over the region.
