Something I wrote not too long ago:
The Ultimate Sacrifice
Am I a thief?
Am I a murderer?
They say Im guilty,
And put me to shame,
Ill accept this sentence,
It was for something greater that I came.
Like a lamb to sacrifice,
I bear your sin,
And take your cross,
I conquered your death as the nails were driven in.
I fell three times that day,
As I took those steps to Calvary,
But I got up again under the weight of that cross,
All so I could set you free.
They mocked me,
Spat in my face,
Rejected my truth,
All so I could show you my grace.
They crushed my skull with thorns,
Whipped my skin until it bled,
Nailed me onto a cross,
All so I could rise from the dead.
I suffered so much,
As those nails pierced my skin,
But what hurt most,
Was to be separated by your sin.
I hung there that day,
The depth of your sin darkened the skies,
They cried as I let go,
But they did not know that I would rise.
So I bear this cross,
Just to be by your side,
I love you more than you know,
It was for you that I died.
