So anyway... i says to this guy, I says, I says to 'im straight to his face i did.
I says to myself I should tell everyone what's going on with the tunes and who played what where.
Okay so YDKWIM was done with me on rhythm guitar on vocals, Benji Jordan on Bass (very tastefully done), Al Paquette on drums (a manitouwadgian), and the great Nathaniel Preston on guitar. If you don't know what YDKWIM means, you'll just have to accept that you don't know what it means. Not Alone was done with the same band with both Al and Nath contributing a vocal. We recorded it cause I (the naive 21 year old Marcel) wanted to enter a contest with two of our songs. Yeah, yeah nath you told me so. We didn't get anywhere in the contest but I love these recordings so I'm really glad we did it.
The next songs were Faceless, Look and See, At Least, Micheal, Worse Off. These were all done at Fat Dog Studios in Ottawa with Dan, Chad Naseralah, Eric Andrasi. These were played with me on everything but the bass, which was done by Kevin Zimon on Faceless, Look and See and Micheal. And the leads on Look and See were done by Mark Pritchard and George Bailey. First Mark's after the first chorus and then the solo section was George's.
Immortal was the first song that I wrote after I came home. It was written about being human and vulnerable to many things. I was physically ill and I had just read a book about vampires. Oh to be Immortal. I played all the instruments on here.
Roped was done by me at home. The bassline was Kevin's idea and I finished the song here in Marathon. It's about humans and their natural temptation and the battle between one's morals and beliefs and nature. A few different topics within this one. I'll post the lyrics soon. Also, it's about the realization that it's not everything to gain the acceptance into someone's life or bed. How it doesn't make everything better. I was pro-single, yet very lonely at that time.
Mistrust, In My Skin and Dangerous aren't seen here but are included on the record.
Hit Me In The Back and What I am are new and were done with Jon Matthews on Drums and Martin Tremblay on Bass. I shouldn't let them be heard by everyone before they're recorded nicely on the next album but I just want everyone to hear what the guys made us sound like. Thanks again guys I'll miss ya.
Marcel
