Experimental / Psychedelic / Rock
Start with a heavy dose of modulating psychedelic grooves; Toss in a sea of gadgets and pedals; Add a dash of Floyd-like theatrics, and your end result is none other than Animatronics. Based in Los Angeles, this talented quartet carefully blends delicate genres into a unique sound all their own, often times with visual projections and interpretive painters into one grand synchromystic co-existence.
Originally starting out as an impromptu trio creating improvised ambient soundscapes in early 2005, Animatronics evolved into a mature outfit that has maintained artistic integrity in such a saturated market, earning themselves opening slots for diverse acts like Prodigy, The Apex Theory, Woven, and Particle.
A self-produced record, Art Official, can be described as envoking the reminiscence of a classic rock album with a modern twist. Upon witnessing a concert, without a doubt, these cats will deliver you into a sonic-induced hallucinatory mind state.
"Animatronics is an experimental, instrumental rock band that delivers a peaceful political message... with a theatrical delivery... Hints of Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin and Jimi Hendrix can be heard amid the soup bowl of psychedelic effects, processors and gadgets"
- Music Connection Magazine (April 2006)
"Animatronics, who were innovative, trendy and ultimately, the epitome of psychedelia...once again brought together dancing hippies and stylized hipsters. With heavy bass and an infinite amount of distortion, the night was instantly transformed into a mind-tripping amusement park."
-Daily Nexus (April 2006)
"an Animatronics set has the ability to transport you to another mindset by immersing your eardrums in many rich textures of sound all at once... (they) strive to not only entertain but provide a new and unique experience to an audience."
- Campus Circle (April 2006)
"four young guys called Animatronics, set up their equipment under the arundo arch... jammed their instrumental grooves into the chilly ocean air... At 6 in the morning, Animatronics were still blowing everyone away"
