PureVolume

"an handful of dust" is an italian metal band, based in Tarcento (Udine) and born in late 2000. They play a unique mixture of heavy metal that blends togheter the thrash metal sounds and riffs of bands like Megadeth and Testament with the gentle melodies of progressive and alternative bands. They recorded and self-relesed their first cd in late 2007. The album that features 9 songs, four of whom are listenable from the band official myspace page (http://www.myspace.com/anhandfulofdust) and downloadable from the media page, and it's called "I'll Show You My Fear". The first members of the band were Gianluca and Christian, shortly followed by Luca. After a little while Fabio and Simone (the former singer) joined the band. With this line up they played some gigs in 2002 but, after this positive period, Simone left the band due to throat illness. In November of 2004 they played at Garage 56 in Udine with Rumors of Gehenna and Slowmotion Apocalypse. This was the last show with Simone on vocals. The lack of a frontman forced the band into a period of composing and live inactivity. When the songs of the cd came to life it was the time to search a new vocalist so they found and hired Mauro. The new vocalist, with hard and heavy roots, brought inside the band his influences expanding even more the musical background of the rest of the band. With the newly complete line up, the band finished composing the cd "I'll show you my fear", released it and restarted live activity. After the inevitable step of playing outside regional borders, the band knew that they needed to push promotion to an highest level. So website and myspace page helped them to gain more feedback and spread their name across the world. Some reviews of the cd are also available in webzines and magazines, along with an interview. In the meantime they got in touch with Alkemist Fanatix and are now proudly part of their roster. During last year "an handful of dust" composed new material and continued playing live, bringing into the sound new fresh ideas and influences. Their focus was on "taking lyrics and music to extremes" and compose "heavier parts heavly and melodic ones even more melodic". These new songs will be part of the second album of the band. Nowdays teh band if healty and ready to get everybody with his music. Hoping that 2009 will be full of creativity and news for the band.
