Who is Andy Reece?
What began as a small basement project has evolved into a rare story of success for an aspiring musician and songwriter. In 2006, Andy Reece released his debut record "Cure for the Conscience". The record broke through expectations and found its way from the east coast to the west coast, and everywhere in between. In 2007, Andy had the distinguished privilege of being voted by listeners as one of Purevolume's top 20 unsigned artists in February, March, April, and May.
By early 2008, Andy had recorded and released his second record "The Great Ricochet". A different, darker album than "Cure for the Conscience", "The Great Ricochet" was hailed as a unique success in a time when music on the radio sounded the same. In cooperation with fellow musicians in College Park, Andy found his way to the radio, where his music was broadcast over the airwaves for the first time in September of 2008 via KJack Radio. Andy's success wouldn't stop there.
With a band found in The Drive, the young musician found himself featured as the regional act for Pennsylvania's Amp Avenue, a venue that featured Yellowcard and Philosophy as other performers. Shortly after, Andy and The Drive were featured in College Magazine DC as some of the best upcoming musicians in the College Park (MD) area. Andy has certainly lived up to the hype.
Now, dozens of shows later, Andy has built an incredibly vast and supportive fan base from around the country. With a third third record ("Somewhere Between Here and There") anticipated in early 2010, the Maryland native has assured himself continuing momentum in an increasingly difficult industry. "I think this third record has the potential to be something very special," Andy said when asked about his latest record, now over 2 years in the making. "I know everyone says that about each of their records, but I think this one is a true representation of my growth and maturity as a songwriter."
The first releases from "Somewhere Between Here and There" are different, yet gripping, which is consistent with Andy's style as an alternative songwriter.
"Ultimately, I think people enjoy my music because its not what you hear on the radio. Its different, and that's something I always strive for in my songwriting." If Andy's previous success is any indication, you can bet that "Somewhere Between Here and There" will continue where Andy's first two records left off: on the edge of your seat, wanting more.
