Anamide was born in 2003 when founding members TJ Paul and Brian Smith came together to pursue their musical vision. After working with other vocalists and drummers, the current line up was perfected in 2005 with the additions of Shane Utz and Darren Haitmanek. The group premiered this new line up at the Recher Theater in Towson, MD in May of 05 and has not stopped pursuing opportunities to showcase themselves since.
While maintaining a heavy touring schedule in their home state of Maryland, Anamide has established themselves as a regional act all over the East Coast, playing venues and events from Boston, MA to Richmond, VA. As part of their touring schedule, they have had the opportunity to share the stage with national acts such as Staind, Three Days Grace and Hurt, while opening the Jagermeister Tour in Washington, DC at the 9:30 Club. In addition, they have opened for Powerman 5000 at the Recher Theater and OTEP at Fletchers in Baltimore. They have also headlined their own shows at the nationally known venue Rams Head LIVE, a part of the Power Plant LIVE Entertainment complex of Baltimore's Inner Harbor. Through high fan demand, generated through their touring, they have broken into the Baltimore radio scene with airplay on both WHFS and 98 Rock. On 98 Rock Push, the first single from their 2006 release Hunger is part of the stations random rotation. This is certainly a feat for an unsigned band and occurred primarily because of the devotion of the Anamide fan base, whose request calls and emails encouraged airplay. Another accolade to Anamides talent is their prestigious sponsorship by Jagermeister.
Their original collection consists of all songs on their 2004 self-titled release, as well as their most current release Hunger. Their song-writing process, headed by Brian and TJ, is always in progress and so unreleased material is also a part of their current catalog. They also play a large range of covers and remakes, ranging from The Killers Mr. Brightside to Depeche Modes Its No Good to a Pantera tribute featuring This Love and Walk, with that collection expanding as they incorporate new covers, as well.
