A lot of people have asked me how I made these songs so here's the deal:
I plugged my cheap-o walmart bought casio into my guitar processor pedal and then into my computer. From there I fiddled around with the effects to make my keyboard sound more bad assed. The simple bass setting on the casio suddenly becomes like snyth city and so on to create everything you hear. From there I played each note by hand, yes it was extremely tedious and time consuming due to screwing up X amount of seconds before the songs end and having to re-do the entire thing completely until I had it faultless (or close enough...) from start to finish by hand. Now that's just the synth and bass...
As for the drums, I used the beats the casio came with and used effects on them until they sounded the way I wanted.
So here I have this drum line I like and maybe I want to switch it up a bit? Well, I had to select the correct numbers to switch to the next beat and back all while playing each note by hand AT THE SAME TIME. My Kylie cover is a perfect example of playing the keys and switching from drum beat to different drum beat all at once. How the heck did I do this you ask? With a lot of patience and great timing and speed.
During my song "I am the man" I was actually playing my guitar (standing up) with the keyboard at my feet (running through my effects pedal), which I was playing with my feet and toes. Hear those beat changes? All toes baby!
In the begining all of this was being recorded into my computer with a simple wav recorder! There was no multi tracking for me! I have since moved to multi track recording programs and tried to enhance my sound
I am proud of my songs. I wasn't going for high fi. Lo-fi lovers and those who could appriciate the idea of what I was doing embraced me. I created a video tape of music videos (of the sort) which was to be played along side my music when doing live shows. Yes, I carry my tv with me because I am too poor to afford a video projector. Buy my album and merch to support me so I can afford one!
I have moved on to computer based programs that create and record music. This is part of the new Amy Kasio era! Once I have found what I really like as far as music making programs, I will share my new songs with you and recreate some of the old ones at a higher quality!
In the meantime I am working with a talented woman with the goal of creating a new Amy Kasio album for 2006. If all goes well there will be radio play, shows, and an actual high quality album full of Amy flava!
Thank you to everyone who enjoys my music and tells me so, it's what makes everything worthwhile!
